Afghanistan: As of Sunday, at least 1,887 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan as a result of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. The latest identifications reported by the military:
- Marine Lance Cpl. Eugene C. Mills III, 21, of Laurel, Md., died Friday while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
