Congratulations to the Tulsa Tech Board of Education for making an excellent choice in naming Dr. Steve Tiger as the new superintendent and CEO. Steve has a deep understanding of the Career Tech philosophy and will work well with both the business and education communities. His experience at other Tech Centers and the state Department of Career Tech has helped Steve develop the leadership skills that will be needed to lead a multi-campus district. He is a talented young man who has the potential to take Tulsa Tech to new levels of excellence.
The Oklahoma Career Tech System had its beginning in Tulsa. It became part of the Tulsa public school system in 1965, and in 1973, the Oklahoma Legislature created it as an independent area vo-tech school district. It was the first school to change its name as a Technology Center. For 47 years, Tulsa Tech has been providing the training needed to prepare both high school students and adults for success in the workplace. As someone who came to Oklahoma because of its reputation as a national leader in career and technology education, and someone who spent 20 years as the superintendent at Tulsa Tech, I wish Steve and the district success as they continue to prepare students for college and careers after completing the training needed to achieve success in the workplace.
