OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma state troopers are to be out in force this week as they watch for drunken drivers and other unsafe motorists during the Independence Day holiday week.

With July 4th falling on a Wednesday, the special patrols will take place for five days through Sunday.

Highway Patrol Col. Kerry Pettingill says troopers are most focused on people driving while impaired. But they'll also be looking for motorists who are speeding and not using safety restraints.

On the water, troopers will be looking for alcohol-related boating offenses and people not wearing personal flotation devices.
