Moving around areas of the city south of downtown on Wednesday might require a detour as the city prepares to close several main and residential roads for the July Fourth ONEOK FreedomFest.
The roads will be closed varying times depending on the needs of the event staff. The 21st Street bridge will be closed most of the day -- 11 a.m. to midnight -- so crews can set up the roughly 1,300 firework shells that will be shot off during the 20 minute and 45 second display, said John Graham, River Parks Public Events Coordinator.
Roads closed from 11 a.m. to midnight:
21st street bridge between Boulder and Jackson Avenues
Boulder Avenue between 18th and 21st Streets
21st street between Boulder and Boston Avenues
Roads closed from 5 to 11 p.m.:
Riverside Drive between Southwest Boulevard and 31st Street
Roads closed from 5 to 11:30 p.m.:
Residential streets from Jackson Avenue to Southwest Boulevard between 17th and 23rd Streets. (Jackson Avenue will remain open)
Zink Lake will be closed to all boating activities after 8 p.m. as well, according to a news release.
