Letter to the Editor: Health care costly

I am so excited that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act. In 2009, there were more than 167,000 uninsured women of reproductive age in Oklahoma.

The costs of basic reproductive health care can add up quickly — ob/gyn visits, pap tests and contraception to name a few — not to mention the costs of prenatal care and child birth should a woman get pregnant. Under the health-care act, more than 150,000 women of reproductive age in Oklahoma will gain insurance coverage.

I’m thankful that those women will now be able to afford to take care of their reproductive health.
