Funeral services for Walter Wallace Durant, 78, will be Monday, July 23, 2012. Services will be held at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, with Elder Roy E. Davis, Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres and viewing will be at Jack’s Memory Chapel on Saturday, July 21, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday, July 22, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Walter graduated with the Class of 1954 from Booker T. Washington in Haskell, OK. He served in the Armed Forces of the United States from 1955 to 1957. Walter held many jobs. He retired from Flint Steel Corpora- tion after 19 years of service. He also retired from Pete’s Bar-B-Que as a Cook. Walter’s oldest sister (Ms. Pete) and his brother-inlaw (Mr. Pete) depended on him. He was a dedicated and dependable employee. Walter is preceded in death by both parents, Ben and Affie Asbury Durant; two brothers, James and Maceola; three sisters, Lizzie Peters, Leora Wilson, and Vera Bledsoe. He leaves to cherish his memory, one sister, Dorthy McAfee of Haskell, one brother, Therman of Tulsa, one sister-inlaw, Versie Durant of Tulsa, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
