From the lavish (and supposedly secret) opening ceremony Friday to the extinguishing of the Olympic flame 17 days later, NBC is making it easy for fans to stay updated on the 2012 Summer Olympics.

NBCUniversal, which has exclusive television rights for the event, is planning to provide viewers more than 5,000 hours of Olympics coverage on its channels NBC, NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, Telemundo, two specialty channels and the first 3-D platform, plus live streaming on NBCOlympics.com.
Live streaming will be available only to those with a pay-TV subscription that includes MSNBC and CNBC. It requires registration using a customer ID and password from the cable provider.
The time difference between London and Tulsa is six hours. If it's 9 a.m. in Tulsa, it is 3 p.m. in London.
Where to watch
(channel numbers listed for broadcast, Cox, Dish and DirecTV)
NBC (channel 2, cable 9, HD 801, Dish 8922, DirecTV 2) - Coverage starts most weekdays at 9 a.m. following the "Today" show. On weekends, Olympics coverage will start as early as 4 a.m. Primetime shows will usually air 7-11 p.m. followed by a 30-minute break for local newscasts and then followed by an hour of latenight coverage.
NBC Sports Network (cable 251, HD 803, Dish 159, DirecTV 205 or 600) will serve as the home to U.S. "team sport" coverage, in particular basketball and volleyball.
MSNBC (cable 50, HD 804, Dish 209, DirecTV 356) will provide more than 155 hours of coverage, including badminton, wrestling, table tennis, basketball and soccer.
CNBC (cable 49, HD, 805, Dish 208, DirecTV 355) will showcase men's and women's boxing, with 73 hours of coverage.
Bravo (cable 46, HD, 806, Dish 129, DirecTV 237) will have 56 hours of tennis coverage (Saturday through Aug. 3).
NBCOlympics.com will provide comprehensive live streaming of all 32 sports and 302 events online and in a dedicated mobile app, at no additional cost to verified pay-TV subscribers. NBC also has two apps available - NBC Olympics Live Extra for live streaming and NBC Olympics for video highlights. NBC Olympics Live Extra is available free from Apple's App Store. It is also available for free from Google Play on select Android devices.

Telemundo (cable 450. HD 802, Dish 835) will provide extensive Spanish-language coverage.
Also available to subscribers will be the specialty channels on Cox: 807-HD Soccer; 808-HD Basketball, and 809-3D Channel. All three require a digital receiver. Dish Network will have soccer on 148 and basketball on channel 147. Dish is not offering 3-D Olympics coverage.
Swimming highlights first week of Olympics coverage

MSNBC - 10:30 p.m.-5 a.m. Women's soccer replay from Wednesday including USA vs. France.
Friday
NBC - 6:30-11 p.m. Opening ceremonies from London include the parade of nations and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
Saturday
NBC - 9:45-11:30 a.m. Women's Basketball, USA vs. Croatia.
NBC - 7-11 p.m. The first night includes swimming finals in men's and women's 400 IM event plus men's team gymnastics qualification and early-round beach volleyball competition.
NBCSN - 10-11:45 a.m. Women's soccer, preliminary round. USA vs. Colombia. (L)
Sunday
NBC - 5-11 p.m. Women's gymnastics qualification round, including Team USA, plus swimming finals from the men's 4x100 meter free relay; diving's first gold medal in the women's synchronized springboard event.
NBCSN - 7:30-9:30 p.m. Men's basketball, USA vs. France.
HD Basketball - 7:30-9:45 a.m. Men, USA vs. France. (Repeats 11:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)
Monday
NBC - 6-11 p.m. Michael Phelps races in the 200 meter freestyle final. Jonathan Horton and Team USA compete in the men's gymnastics team final. A medal event is set for men's diving synchronized platform.
HD Basketball (808) - 3:15-5 p.m. Women's, USA vs. Angola. (L)
Tuesday
NBC - 6-11 p.m. - Team gold is awarded women's gymnastics, plus Michael Phelps in the 200 meter fly finals and more.
NBC - 10:35-11:35 p.m. U.S. women qualifying-round play of beach volleyball and the semifinals of the women's 200-meter butterfly.
NBCSN - 10:15 a.m.-noon Women's soccer, USA vs. North Korea. (L)
