Stillwater baseball standout Ryder Jones has given his verbal commitment to play at Stanford University, Pioneers head coach Tony Holt confirmed Friday.
Jones, a pitcher/shortstop, helped lead the Pioneers to the Class 6A state tournament as a junior in 2012, but he will have a change of address as a senior.
His father, former Oklahoma State University assistant coach Billy Jones, was hired last month as head coach at Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., meaning Jones will play his final prep season in North Carolina.
Jones belted 11 homers while batting .447 with 41 RBIs in 2012. On the mound, he was 3-2 with 58 strikeouts in 44 innings.
