Sequoyah County authorities investigating homicide

VIAN — A 31-year-old man was shot and killed in Sequoyah County on Saturday, Sheriff Ron Lockhart told an Arkansas newspaper.
The victim died of a single gunshot wound to the upper body, Lockhart told the Times Record of Fort Smith, Ark. The man was shot around 7:45 p.m. eight miles north-northeast of Vian near Oklahoma 82.
Lockhart said a “person of interest” was taken into custody and a firearm was seized, but he did not immediately release the names of those involved to the Times Record.
The sheriff’s office declined to provide details to the Tulsa World on Sunday.
