OKLAHOMA CITY - A Norman man will avoid jail time after pleading guilty to stealing more than $1,000 worth of Lego toys from a Target store in southwest Oklahoma City, court records show.

Todd Franklin Curtis, 32, pleaded guilty July 25 in Oklahoma County District Court to one count of larceny of merchandise from a retailer. He received a four-year deferred sentence.

Curtis was arrested in April 2011 at the store, 800 SW 44, after an employee saw a man put numerous items of women's clothing, more than 20 boxes of Lego toys and other items in a shopping cart before abandoning the cart near the registers, police reported.

The man then went outside and talked on his cellphone before returning inside and pushing the cart out of the store. He was stopped by an employee, who called police
