PONCA CITY -- A crop-duster plane was destroyed during a crash landing onto an Arkansas River sandbar on Tuesday, a Federal Aviation Administration official said.
The pilot was on an “aerial application flight” when the Rockwell International S-2R struck some power lines and crashed onto the sandbar about 5 miles northeast of Ponca City around 12:50 p.m., said spokesman Lynn Lunsford. The pilot was not injured.
The aircraft is a fixed wing, single-engine plane registered to Cushing-based Skyler Blue LLC, FAA records show.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
