Classic pop-punk-rocker The Go-Go's are bringing their beat to Tulsa on Sept. 27 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.
Tickets start at $35 and go on sale Aug. 16. Guests must be at least 21 years old.
Singer Belinda Carlisle leads the band with her infectious vocals, and other members include Kathy Valentine on bass, Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin on punk guitar and backing vocals, and Gina Shock on drums.
The California rockers' hits include "Our Lips Are Sealed," "Vacation," "Get Up and Go," "Head Over Heels" and "Turn to You."
The band formed in 1978 in Los Angeles, released four studio albums and has sold more than 7 million albums in its career. The band's 1981 debut, "Beauty and the Beat," often is credited as a "cornerstone album of (U.S.) new wave," according to the Allmusic Guide. It is the first (and as yet the only) all-female-band written and performed album to top the Billboard album charts.
The group disbanded in 1985, but reunited in 1990 and 1994, and permanently regrouped in 1999 and has been together ever since.
