5 to Find: Apps help students with homework, organization

It's a month of back-to-school stories and reminders, from recommendations on what gadgets to take with you to college and how to decorate your dorms to suggestions about where to get your school supplies and how to personalize your school uniforms.
But have you or your children considered what apps you can download to make this school year just a tad easier and more organized?
Here are suggestions for five free apps you or your kids should download before school begins.

No more assignment notebook pages torn from being crushed by books in your locker, or forgotten lying on a desk somewhere. These apps give students the graphing capabilities of those bulky calculators, minus the bulk. The only possible problem is that teachers and professors may not allow phones to be used during tests.

When I was in school, I was perpetually trying to figure out exactly how many points I needed to make an A in each class. Grades 2 will do that for you, eliminating the scrap paper and mental effort it takes to do the calculations yourself. For any parent who has ever felt lost when looking at their child's homework, this is the app for you. The app offers help with English, math and technology. It defines terms that are currently common in the classroom to help parents understand what is going on, and it offers graphic illustrations and how-to videos. It also provides inspiration and ideas for projects and assignments.
