Regarding Ken and Gayle Yates' Aug 8 letter, "Entitled to opinions," concerning the Chick-fil-A controversy: As long as their God-fearing, Bible-believing beliefs are held, homosexuals in this country will never be treated fairly.
That's a great stand to take and there are Scriptures to back them up, but what about the rest of the Bible? When I was a child sitting in church, traditional marriage was a lifetime commitment. Did the Bible change? How about gambling, shopping on Sundays or the fact that we used to call out-of-wedlock children illegitimate?
It wasn't that long ago that two people couldn't rent an apartment together without a marriage license. One could easily argue that it has become an anything-goes society and the Christians are down at the casino and in the divorce courts just as often as anybody else.
The only difference I can see is that people like the Yateses' only chance to feel holy in this day and age is to find a "sin" that they will never be tempted to commit.
