Summary: The Tulsa Drillers ended an offensive slump and a five-game losing streak with an 8-2 victory over the Midland RockHounds in Texas League baseball action Sunday night at Citibank Field in Midland, Texas.
Tulsa racked up 13 hits to back starting pitcher and former Bishop Kelley standout Parker Frazier to his fifth win of the season. The right-hander worked 7 2/3 innings, allowing only two runs with no walks and four strikeouts.
After allowing the first run of the game to the RockHounds in the bottom of the first inning, the Drillers tied the score in the top of the third when Oral Roberts University product Tim Torres led off with a double, stole third base and scored on a groundout by Warren Schaeffer.
Tulsa took the lead with a two-run fifth and added three more runs in the sixth. Nolan Arenado and Ben Paulsen opened the sixth with two singles, and Kiel Roling made it three straight hits, scoring Arenado with another single. After Mike Zuanich struck out, Lars Davis brought Paulsen home with the fourth hit of the inning. Torres capped the uprising with his third hit of the game, scoring Roling.
Notable: The outing marked the 10th straight game that Frazier has pitched at least six innings. ... Eight of Tulsa's nine starters had at least one hit.
