OWASSO -- A section of U.S. 169 will be dedicated Thursday to a Collinsville soldier killed in Afghanistan in 2011.
State Sen. Rick Brinkley, R-Collinsville, and state Rep. David Derby, R-Owasso, will attend a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. for Army Spc. Christopher D. Horton, 26, who was killed Sept. 9 while serving the Oklahoma National Guard’s 45th Brigade Combat Team.
Brinkley and Derby authored Senate Bill 1320, which designated U.S. 169 from 106th Street North to 116th Street North the “Specialist Christopher D. Horton Memorial Highway.”
Joining Brinkley and Derby at the ceremony, to be held adjacent to Walgreens, 11605 N. 135th E. Ave., will be Tulsa County Commissioner John Smaligo, Owasso Mayor Doug Bonebrake and members of the Horton family.
