Senior quarterback Matt Woolslayer tossed touchdown passes on four consecutive drives in the first half as Class 3A No. 8 Metro Christian crushed NOAH 56-on 8 Friday night at Patriot Stadium.

Following a two-hour lightning delay before kickoff, the Patriots provided a bolt of their own on their first play from scrimmage with a 40-yard scoring run from senior running back Michael Brothers.

Metro's defense got in on the scoring late in the first quarter as defensive end Bewley Wales snagged a pass from NOAH quarterback DeQuan Coronado near the line of scrimmage and rumbled 14 yards for a 15-0 Patriot lead.

Wales' interception was the first of six costly turnovers by the Jaguars.

Woolslayer dominated first-half play, passing for scores to four receivers as the Jaguars lost three consecutive fumbles, two coming on kickoffs.

Woolslayer's scoring strikes came on a variety of short passes, including a 20-yard bubble screen to Cash Jackson midway through the second quarter to make it 29-0.

NOAH mustered its first scoring threat of the game late in the half, driving inside the Metro 30-yard line.

But consecutive 13-yard sacks from Zach Webb and Cash Jackson of the Patriots pushed the Jaguars out of scoring range.

Led by Webb at nose tackle, the Metro defense consistently harassed Coronado into hurried throws and short runs for little or lost yardage.

Webb had several tackles for lost yardage as the Patriot defense held NOAH to just three first downs before halftime.

But the second half saw a reversal of fortune of sorts for the Jaguars as they pushed deep into Metro territory on consecutive drives, only to be stopped by turnovers.

NOAH avoided the shutout with a short touchdown run by workhorse running back Mike Howard late in the fourth quarter, scoring from the 3.

The Patriots host Broken Bow on Friday, while the Jaguars take on Class 5A Memorial at LaFortune Stadium.
