MUSKOGEE -- A teenager who was named by Muskogee police as a person of interest in connection with shooting death of a 26-year-old man has been arrested.

John Cone, 18, was taken into custody on a complaint of first-degree murder in the death of Skyler Brewer, who was fatally shot Thursday near 21 Street near Broadway Avenue in Muskogee, the Muskogee Police Department confirmed Sunday.

Investigators alleged the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation between two people, a police report said.

Cone, 18, and Tenesha Nunley, 28, were named “people of interest” in the case early Friday.

Authorities talked with Nunley on Friday, and she is no longer being sought for questioning, police said.
