Another Tulsa County resident has died from West Nile Virus, bringing the total number of deaths statewide this year to eight.

Two other Tulsa County residents have died from the disease. The other deaths have been in Carter, Oklahoma and Seminole counties.

The total number of West Nile cases this year is 127. Last week the state broke the 2007 record of 107 cases, making this the worst year for the disease since it first appeared in Oklahoma in 2002.

Nearly half of the cases have been in people aged 60 to 79, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
