Class 6A No. 1 Owasso took down No. 2 Sand Springs 2-0 in the Sand Springs tournament final on Saturday.

"Their (Sand Springs) pitcher is really good but we had a great approach at the plate and were able to get the big hits," said Owasso head coach Shane Eicher.

Seniors Whitney Whitehorn and Myranda Stewart provided RBI hits for the Rams and Whitehorn pitched a three-hit shutout.

Tigers gaining attention: Class 6A No. 5 Broken Arrow has won 13 straight, including a 5-3, extra-inning victory over No. 1 Owasso last week.

"We've been playing good defense, pitching well and had timely hitting and hopefully we are still able to improve every day," said head coach Randall King.

Pitcher Elena Gambill continues to have a stellar senior year with a 12-2 record while hitting over .500.

Tahlequah tops Coweta tournament: Tahlequah steamrolled through the Coweta tournament last weekend by winning all five of its games by a combined score of 42-2.

"We've put ourselves in a good position with good defense and solid pitching from Brittany Johnson, Morgan Tarrance and Lindsay Wade," said head coach Matt Cloud.

Ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, Tahlequah has won 10 straight games and will look to avenge its only 5A loss of the season when it hosts No. 2 Grove on Tuesday.

Verdigris gets hot: The Verdigris Cardinals have won nine of their last 10 games to climb to No. 8 in Class 3A.

Included in the streak are tournament wins in Commerce and Sperry. Verdigris will look to add to its résumé when it travels to 5A No. 10 Coweta on Saturday.
