Oklahoma Health Care Authority CEO Mike Fogarty announced at a board meeting Thursday that he will retire in March.

Fogarty, 65, has been a state government employee for 42 years and has worked for the Health Care Authority for 18 years, he said.

Authority board Chairman Lyle Roggow, who has worked with Fogarty since 1998, said Fogarty has served his role well.

The authority is charged with controlling costs of state-purchased health care.

"He's done a very, very good job at moving us forward in some very difficult times," Roggow said.

The board will soon begin the process of finding a new CEO and hopes to have someone ready by the time Fogarty retires, he said.

"He will be sorely missed but we will continue to move forward," Roggow said.
