VINITA — A Craig County woman will serve 60 days in the county jail as part of a 10-year deferred sentence in connection with the death of her 2-year-old son who wandered into a street and was killed when struck by a passing vehicle, a prosecutor said Monday.
Tracy Dean Frazier, 26, of Vinita, entered a no contest plea in Craig County District Court on May 14, said Bryce Lair, Craig County First Assistant District Attorney.
District Judge Terry McBride found Frazier guilty on Monday, he said.
Lair said the judge ruled Frazier would not receive any credit for time already served. Frazier was also ordered to attend psychiatric counseling and compete 250 hours of community service, records show.
A week before the Feb. 23, 2011 accident, Frazier was warned about keeping her son, Jessie, out of the street, according to an arrest affidavit. The toddler wandered into a street and was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle after the motorist attempted to swerve.
The incident happened about 50 yards from Frazier’s home.
