Around Town: Living Arts to present Animation Festival at Guthrie Green

Living Arts of Tulsa presents its Animation Festival and New Music Concert at the Guthrie Green, 111 E. Brady St., starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The event will begin with a screening of animated films created by local participants in a Living Arts animation class. At 8:30 p.m., Tulsa instrumental act And There Stand Empires will perform. The band's music ranges from slow and melodic to dark and distorted, according to Living Arts' website.

The evening will end with a screening of "Monster Road" from 9:30 to 11 p.m. The 2004 documentary, directed by Brett Ingram, is a look into the life of clay animator Bruce Bickford.

From 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Tulsa Roots Music and the George Kaiser Family Foundation continue their free music series at the Guthrie Green. Nation Beat, Felix y Los Gatos and The Claptet will perform.
