It was a record-breaking performance Thursday night as Jenks surpassed the modern-era school record for points in a game by overwhelming Edison 82-7 in the 6A-2 district opener for both teams at LaFortune Stadium.

The third-ranked Trojans (2-2) won their second straight game after an 0-2 start. Edison dropped to 1-3 on the season.

"It's a bittersweet thing," coach Allan Trimble said, on breaking the record The Trojans scored 75 points in 2010 over Owasso, and in 1922 beat Coweta 125-0.

"Obviously, I'm happy for this team. It's a great group of young kids and a heck of a milestone, but you hate to run up the score. It's fortunate that our young kids came in the second half and were able to play well," Trimble said.

Sophomore backup running back Darwin Thompson broke the record on a 49-yard touchdown run with 6:12 remaining in the third quarter to make the score 76-0.

Jenks finished with 360 yards rushing. Senior running back Trey'Vonne Barr'e had 134 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Thompson added 69 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.

Jenks' offense totaled 393 yards in building a 62-0 halftime lead. The Trojans defense did its part, limiting Edison to minus-three yards offense in the first half.

The Eagles finished the game with just 35 yards of offense.

Jenks was held without a first down on its first offensive possession of the game, but scored a touchdown on its next nine possessions of the half. Only one of the nine first-half touchdown drives was longer than three plays.

Jenks senior quarterback Kyle Alexander was an efficient 5-of-7 passing for 177 yards and four touchdowns.

Trojan senior wide receiver Jordan Smallwood had four catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Logan Prince and junior Austin Casillas each had a 49-yard touchdown reception.

Edison scored its only touchdown on a 59-yard punt return from senior David Morrow with 5:05 left in the fourth quarter.

It was Jenks' fourth consecutive game away from home to open the season. The Trojans lost neutral-site games to Union and DeSoto (Texas) before winning last week at Owasso.

"We've had a tough schedule. We've been on the road for a month, and I had never done that before in my coaching career," Trimble said. "It was a good game for us offensively and defensively. I'm really looking forward to getting a home game."

The Trojans' home opener is against Sapulpa next Friday, while the Eagles will host Putnam City next week.
