A Bixby woman was arrested on a complaint she drove under the influence of alcohol while taking her two children to school.

Sarah Rose Whitmarsh, 33, was arrested by Bixby police on complaints of driving under the influence, child endangerment and driving with a suspended license after police stopped her for speeding at 7:39 a.m. Thursday in the 15000 block of South Memorial Drive, an arrest report said.

Police said Whitmarsh told the arresting officer, who noted the smell of alcohol on her breath, that her driver's license was suspended and she had taken prescription medication, the report said.

Police also said Whitmarsh revealed that she "didn't sleep all night," and that she "had a few drinks" during the overnight hours, the report noted.

She was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test, police said.

The children were transported to school by a school resource officer, police said.

Whitmarsh is in the Tulsa Jail on $51,520 bond.
