Annual Tar Creek Conference to be held Wednesday

MIAMI, Okla. - The 14th Annual Tar Creek Conference will be held this week at the Miami Civic Center.
The conference, sponsored by the Local Environment Action Demanded Agency, starts at noon Wednesday and lasts until 5 p.m., followed by a bike safety clinic, an Indian taco dinner and a play, "The Panther and the Swan."
On Thursday, the conference starts at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 5 p.m., followed by arts and science exhibition, fish fry and pie auction and a play, "Miss Lead."
Speakers will provide updates on a Grand Lake watershed mercury study and damaged land and other environmental issues facing northeast Oklahoma.
Ottawa County residents are admitted free; all others are required to pay a $50 registration fee per day.
