NORMAN - Junior college big man Keshaun Hamilton has verbally committed to Oklahoma for the 2013-14 season, the Tulsa World confirmed Tuesday. ESPN.com first reported the commitment Monday night.
Hamilton, a 6-foot-10, 270-pound power forward/post, is currently listed on the roster at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. He spent the 2011-12 season averaging 7 points and 7 rebounds in 14 games for Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla. His season was cut short by a knee injury, which he had surgery to repair last January.
Hamilton attracted some attention at an Orlando junior college event last summer. There, JucoRecruiting.com touted his range and movement, while listing West Virginia and Kansas State among interested schools.
Oklahoma State was also among Hamilton's suitors, but he committed to the Sooners after visiting Norman last weekend.
Hamilton prepped at Palatka (Fla.) High School, where he was a good enough tight end prospect to be listed on an Orlando Sentinel football watch list.
He is the second junior college big man to commit to OU for the 2013-14 season, joining Dominique Elliott of Texas' Trinity Valley Community College. The Sooners also have a verbal commitment from Edmond Memorial guard Jordan Woodard.
