Which is the true No. 1 high school football team in Class 6A? Owasso's 38-35 victory over then-No. 1 Union last Friday scrambled the picture. Although Jenks is officially listed at the top, after four weeks, any of the seven teams listed below could make a case for being No. 1.
Union
My vote for the established "Big Four" was determined by a tiebreaker system, similar to the NFL's. Union, with quarterback Hunter Atyia is 2-1 against the Big Four while Broken Arrow and Jenks are 1-1 and Owasso is 1-2. The Redskins are the four-time defending champions and have defeated the current top two teams in the World's 6A rankings. Union's losses have been by a combined six points.

Jenks
Has anything in the first four weeks made sense in regards to who is the "No. 1 team" in Class 6A? Probably not. The perceived gap between Union, Jenks, Broken Arrow and Owasso is as minimal as it's ever been in that time span. But at this moment, Jenks is probably playing the "best" of those four teams.

Edmond North
The Huskies own a signature win over (No. 8) Edmond Santa Fe, lead 6A in scoring (42.3), and their average point differential (30.3) is only slightly less than Lawton's (30.5), which leads the class. Many of the same players were part of a one-point loss at Union in last year's playoff quarterfinals.

Lawton
If defense wins championships, the Wolverines are in great shape because they have allowed the fewest points in 6A. Lawton's offense is averaging 41.8 points. The Wolverines, however, have played the weakest schedule of the No. 1 candidates with their opposition, which includes two 5A teams, combining for a 4-12 record.

Lawton Mac W, 28-19

at Edmond Memorial W, 34-9
Owasso
The Rams are the only team to have defeated four-time defending champion Union in the past two years and both wins were at Union. Owasso showed a championship defense in the first three weeks, allowing a combined 39 points in losses to Broken Arrow and Jenks, and its offense showed tremendous potential against Union.

Sand Springs
After recording its first victory ever at Muskogee, defeating Bixby, prevailing at Sapulpa and winning at Booker T. Washington (never easy), the Sandites are 4-0 for the first time in 15 years. Class 6A may be destined for yet another Union or Jenks championship, but for now, Sand Springs has cleared every hurdle and deserves to be No. 1.

Bixby W, 21-7
at Sapulpa W, 28-21
at B.T. Washington W, 21-7
Broken Arrow
The Tigers, with Cameron Wrenn are No. 1 almost by default, but that doesn't mean they aren't deserving. They were No. 2 and won while the top team lost. Jenks might be the best team, but they don't get to leapfrog BA after defeating overmatched Edison. The Jenks-BA debate will be settled when they play next week.
