OWASSO - The Owasso Rams kept rolling after the last-second win over Union last week with a 56-7 pounding of Ponca City on Friday night.

In its homecoming game, the third-ranked Rams (2-2, 2-0 District 6A-1) avoided a letdown, thanks to a quick start, and never looked back.

"I was pleased with how we played," Rams coach Bill Patterson said. "We came out and took care of business. A lot of times in these situations you can have a letdown, but tonight we came out and executed at a very high level throughout the game."

Owasso senior Tanner DiMarco recovered a fumble on the second play of the game and returned it 15 yards with less than 60 seconds gone by.

After another fumble on the ensuing drive for the Wildcats, Rams senior quarterback Jaylen Lowe connected on a 23-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Jake Burd.

"You're always concerned about the homecoming game as a coach, but that's the thing I appreciate about this team, their attitude and their approach," Patterson said.

Lowe was 5-of-6 passing for 107 yards and a touchdown to go with three carries for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Owasso running back Scottie Prealow carried the ball eight times for 84 yards and three touchdowns. His last three carries went for scores.

By the end of the second quarter, it was all but over at 49-0 in favor of Owasso. The Rams' defense matched the dominance by the offense in the first half, holding the Wildcats to 25 yards on offense.

A bright spot for the Wildcats (0-5, 0-2) was shifty senior running back Nick Hamilton, who rushed the ball four times for 61 yards and the Wildcats' only touchdown.

With three of their first four games coming against Broken Arrow, Jenks, and Union, a comfortable win was a luxury for the Rams.

"The best thing about tonight is that we were able to play all the kids that we have. It's always good to have one of these every once in awhile," Patterson said.

Sophomore quarterback Gabe Neph scored the Rams' only touchdown of the second-half, on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
