We recently brought home a tostada plate with beans and rice, a king burrito with beans and rice and two soft tacos. Packets of a fiery verde sauce and a smoky red sauce came with each order.
Oversized burritos reportedly were born in East Los Angeles, and (Bill) Maciel spent a number of years in California. The king burritos here certainly uphold that reputation.
Our burrito was full of shredded beef and topped with melted white cheese and a dab of guacamole, onion and sour cream.
The tostadas had the same toppings over shredded chicken and filled most of a standard to-go box. A liberal use of sour cream made the dish even better.

I initially wanted to go by for breakfast (free coffee 6-11 a.m. Monday-Friday was a good enough excuse), but we wound up there for dinner instead, for no particular reason.
We had a 12-ounce rib-eye dinner, a smothered chicken breast and an appetizer of fried green beans.
The rib-eye was the highlight. It was wide and a little thin but a good 12 to 13 ounces, tender and cooked to a perfect medium-rare, as ordered.
The chicken breast had been pounded flat, probably 6 inches across, and was covered with a layer of two slices of melted Swiss cheese topped with sauteed mushrooms. The chicken was tender, and the mushrooms maintained a good texture.

When we visited recently for dinner, we had the usual Thursday special, stuffed tomatoes, a souvlaki plate with rice, salad and green beans, hummus and pita bread, tabouli, three grape leaves, and two cheese coneys.
It looked like enough food for a Greek wedding when it hit the table.
The to-go menu says stuffed tomatoes, and a chalkboard menu said stuffed green pepper and tomato. I thought it would have been interesting to have both, but what I got were two tomatoes stuffed with rice and seasoned ground beef and topped with Parmesan cheese.
They had, naturally, a very tomatoey flavor, and I thought it was interesting how well the tomatoes held their shape after being stuffed and baked.
Both entrees came with green beans cooked in a tomato sauce, like stewed tomatoes, and rice that seemed to absorb the flavors of the other items.
