FIRST QUARTER

Tulsa 21 - 21
UAB 14 - 14


Key play: On the first offensive play of the game, Tulsa's John Flanders falls down and Alabama-Birmingham's Jamarcus Nelson catches a 75-yard touchdown pass for a 7-0 lead.

Key stat: UAB had not scored an offensive touchdown since Sept. 1. It scored two in the first four minutes of the game.

Number to know: 75. That's how many yards each of UAB's two touchdown drives covered in the first four minutes.

SECOND QUARTER

Tulsa 21 14 - 35
UAB 14 7 - 21


Key play: Cody Green ran through a pile of tacklers on a 45-yard touchdown run. It finally gave Tulsa some breathing room in what had been a tight game.

Key stat: 7.3. That's what Tulsa averaged per snap in the first half. A blocked punt, fumble and poor passes kept this from being a complete blowout in the first half.

Number to know: 6. Willie Carter had eight catches in the first four games. He has six catches in the first half.

THIRD QUARTER

Tulsa 21 14 7 - 42
UAB 14 7 7 - 28


Key play: Trey Watts reverses field on a pitchout and outruns the UAB defense for an 11-yard touchdown to give Tulsa a two-touchdown lead late in the quarter.

Key stat: 15. UAB gets two 15-yard penalties, including a questionable roughing the quarterback, on a TD drive to get within a touchdown of the Golden Hurricane midway through the quarter.

Number to know: 32 on 3. Trey Watts has 32 yards on three carries during Tulsa's 71-yard drive to go up 42-28.

FOURTH QUARTER

UAB 14 7 7 14 - 42


Key play: TU fumbles and loses the ball on the first play of the quarter. On the first play of the game, TU gave up a 75-yard TD. On the first play of the second quarter, TU had a punt blocked.

Key stat: 12 carries by Alex Singleton. None was bigger than the final carry, a 6-yard run that gave Tulsa a 49-42 lead with about five minutes to go.

Number to know: Jamarcus Nelson has four TD catches in two games against Tulsa. His 50-yarder in the fourth quarter tied the game at 42-42.
