Phyllis Langley Albertson died on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 after a lengthy illness. She was born April 7. 1932, in Osage County near Barnsdall, Oklahoma. Her mother was Lillian Phillips Lucas and her father was Alfred E. Lucas, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Elgiva R. Farley. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Max L. Albertson. and by her daughter, Dr. Susan Langley, who Phyllis considered to be her greatest achievement. She is also survived by her step-children, Sam Albertson and Kim Vanderpool, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and accompanied her husband on several trips to Europe, the Middle East, and South America. They resided in London for a period in the 1970s. She was active as a volunteer at both St. Johns Hospital and St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she was a member for many years. She was an avid reader, won awards for her needlepoint, and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Despite the hardships in her early years, she lived a long and fulfilling life. Her favorite quote was one by John Greenleaf Whittier, “Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: it might have been.” Cryptside Service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
