Tulsa Metro’s jobless rate didn’t budge much as it dipped to 5.4 percent in August, down from a revised 5.5 percent in July, according to data released Thursday morning by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Before the revision, July’s rate had been recorded as 5.4 percent. A year ago at the same time, the Tulsa metro’s jobless rate was 6.8 percent.
Nationwide, unemployment rates were lower in August than a year earlier in 325 of the 372 metros, higher in 40 areas and unchanged in seven areas, according to the BLS.
El Centro, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz., recorded the highest rates at 29.9 percent. Bismarck, N.D., had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.6 percent.
