Police on Wednesday arrested a Chouteau woman accused of stealing mail in a Tulsa neighborhood and are asking recent victims of mail theft to report the crime.

Jennifer Kathryn Steffen, 28, is accused of stealing mail from mailboxes in the residential area near 60th Street and Utica Avenue, according to a Tulsa Police Department news release Thursday.

Steffen was found with mail from 15 residences, police said. Investigators with the financial crimes unit made contact with 12 households that confirmed their mail had been stolen, according to the release.

Steffen is being held at the Tulsa Jail in lieu of $18,000 bond on 12 complaints of knowingly concealing stolen property.

Detectives with the unit are asking anyone who lives in the area of South Peoria Avenue and South Lewis Avenue between 60th Street and 63rd Street to contact police if their mail has been stolen in recent days.

The Detective Division can be reached at 918-596-9133.
