Two structure fires that began Thursday evening in the community of Turley flared up early Friday, requiring crews from three local fire departments.

The Tulsa and 138th Air Guard fire departments provided aid to the Turley Fire Department on structure fires within blocks of one another that began around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Crews were called at 5:59 p.m. to a fire that began in a field and spread to a vacant house in the 6000 block of North Frankfort Place, Tulsa Fire Capt. Stan May said.

An abandoned business in the 6000 block of North Peoria Avenue, directly across the street from the Cherokee Elementary School building, also burned Thursday, according to the Turley Fire & Rescue Facebook page.

Firefighters responded at the same locations around 6 a.m. Friday to find both structures fully engulfed in flames.

The Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fires.

The Tulsa World was unable to reach officials with the Turley Fire Department on Friday morning.
