Two people were charged Thursday in a child pornography case that Tulsa County District Court documents allege involved attempts to obtain illegal images of extremely young children engaged in sexual activity.
Ricky Lewis, 31, of Tulsa is charged with procuring the participation of a 2-year-old in child pornography, attempting to procure such material involving a 3-month-old, distributing and manufacturing child pornography featuring an 8-year-old and aggravated possession of child pornography.
Lewis also is charged with two counts of manufacturing obscene material featuring a dog and use of a computer to facilitate a sex crime.
The alleged crimes spanned from May 7 through Sept. 21, according to the charges. Lewis was arrested Sept. 21 on a complaint of possessing child pornography and was released on bond. He was arrested again Sept. 28 and remained in the Tulsa Jail on Thursday night.
Also charged and jailed Thursday was Sally Deupree, 55, of Glenpool.
Deupree is charged with attempting to procure the participation of a minor in child pornography in May.
The charge says she was prevented from doing so after law enforcement authorities were contacted.
Deupree was arrested about 4:30 p.m. at an attorney's office in downtown Tulsa, Tulsa Police Detective Danielle Bishop said.
Lewis' arrest report alleges that he had been soliciting women via text messages to send him nude photographs of their children, saying he wanted to have sex with their young daughters.
The document says a woman sent Lewis several nude photos of her daughter, who was 2 or 3 at the time.
That woman, identified by police as Brittiny L. Dick, 21, of Vinita, was arrested last Friday and booked into the Craig County Jail on complaints of lewd molestation and manufacturing child pornography.
Dick was not charged Thursday in Tulsa County District Court, although she was still in the Craig County Jail.
It is still possible that Dick will be charged in Tulsa County, although Craig County could also establish jurisdiction, Bishop said.
Detectives believe that Lewis used Craigslist, a website used to post free classified ads, to make contact with families or parents of young children. He also is alleged to have posted messages in the website's personals section advertising his interest in "kink."
Lewis told detectives that he fantasized about having sex with children, according to his Sept. 21 arrest report.
Investigators uncovered more than 17,000 allegedly pornographic images on Lewis' cellphone and computer after a concerned couple who had been in contact with him alerted police to his sexual requests pertaining to their daughter, Bishop said last week.
Bishop said then that several thousand of the images have been determined to be child pornography, although the charges filed Thursday allege only that he possessed "100 or more" such images on his laptop computer Sept. 21.
