Claremore plans for new $200,000 splash pad
CLAREMORE - The city is in the planning and design phase for a new $200,000 splash pad.
Although the facility's precise location is undetermined, it will be at the south end of Claremore Lake park.
LandPlan Consultants Inc. of Tulsa is the designer. City personnel and LandPlan are scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the project, said Joe Kays, Claremore's parks director.
LandPlan also designed a trail completed late last year at Claremore Lake.
Phase II of the trail linked the Community Center and youth baseball and soccer complex to Claremore Lake.

Fallin names Devon Energy executive to GRDA board
OKLAHOMA CITY - Gov. Mary Fallin has named Devon Energy executive Allen Wright of Edmond to the Grand River Dam Authority board of directors.
Wright succeeds Tulsan David Chernicky, who resigned last month.
Wright is the vice president of public and government affairs for Devon. He previously was the director, chief operating officer and vice president at Koch Industries.
Wright previously worked as an assistant to former Gov. Henry Bellmon, an administrative aide to then-Corporation Commissioner J.C. Watts and as chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Okla.
Wright's appointment comes as the GRDA begins contemplating how to cope with whether to spend $500 million on its 25- and 30-year-old coal-fired plants or replace them with natural gas generation.
