"The Handbuilt Home: 34 Simple, Stylish & Budget-Friendly Woodworking Projects for Every Room" by Ana White (Potter Craft, $23) hits stores Tuesday. White, a blogger and mom, is a self-taught furniture maker. Her 192-page softcover book contains a breakdown of tools, a metric conversion chart and how to buy wood. Projects include beds, Adirondack chairs, a kitchen island, a stepstool and picnic table.
Who'll like this book: painted furniture enthusiasts
Who won't: old-school woodworking dudes and modernists
