Golf

TU men in 5th: The Tulsa men's team is in fifth place after two rounds at the David Toms Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge, La. The Golden Hurricane carded rounds of x306-301 for a 36-hole total of 607 at the par-72 course. Tulsa's Matt Mabrey sits in fifth place at 3-over 147.

Volleyball

Seniors shine in ORU win: Oral Roberts' senior leadership was on display as the Golden Eagles swept McNeese State, 3-0, in Southland Conference play. The win is ORU's fourth in a row at the Kenneth H. Cooper Aerobics Center. ORU (8-11, 4-4 SLC) won by scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 25-22. Senior Sheina Fernandes had a team-high 14 kills, while senior Joana Gruber notched her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Oklahoma sweeps past TCU: Oklahoma defeated TCU (3-0; 25-20, 25-20, 25-23) for its ninth sweep of the season, at the University Recreation Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Oklahoma improves to 14-5 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 competition, while TCU drops to 13-5 and 2-3. Freshman Julia Doyle earned her sixth double-double with a team-high 30 assists plus 10 digs. Senior Morgan Reynolds had 12 kills. Fellow outside hitter Keila Rodriguez totaled a personal-best 19 digs.

Motor Sports

Beckman sets national NHRA Funny Car record: Funny Car title contender Jack Beckman set a national record en route to his fourth No. 1 qualifying position of the season Saturday in the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals. After a dominating performance Friday, Beckman powered his Dodge Charger to a time of 4.003 seconds in his first qualifying attempt Saturday. That was quick enough to certify his 3.989 effort from Friday as an NHRA national record.

Cross Country

RSU men and women finish third: The Rogers State men's and women's teams each registered third place finishes at the Bison Invitational on the Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech campus in Shawnee. Sophomore Brenda Felipe finished eighth in 18:48 to lead the women. Brandon Payne led the men with an 18th place finish in 26:17.

Equestrian

Cowgirls win home opener: Sixth-ranked Oklahoma State defeated No. 5 Baylor, 17-7, at the Animal Science Arena in Stillwater. The OSU hunter seat squad defeated the defending hunter seat national champions 8-4, winning equitation on the flat 5-1 and winning equitation over the fences 489-474. The OSU western team improved to 3-0 by defeating the Bears 5-1 in horsemanship and 4-2 in reining.

Tennis

TU's De Klerk ousted: Tulsa junior Japie De Klerk, No. 23 in the nation, lost a 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) match to No. 18 KU Singh of Georgia in the quarterfinals of the ITA-All American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. De Klerk earned a spot in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, which will be held Nov. 8-11 in Flushing, N.Y.

Strong singles play leads TU women: After finishing doubles play Friday with a 4-0 record, the Tulsa women's team won six of its seven singles matches during the second day of the Razorback Classic at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
