Skeletal remains found along Arkansas River

VAN BUREN, Ark. — Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown said authorities are trying to identify skeletal remains found by a hunter along the Arkansas River.
Brown told the Southwest Times on Tuesday that a human skull and other remains were found Monday in a remote area that's accessible only by boat.
Brown said the remains appear to have been there for several weeks or months and are being sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock in an effort to identify them and determine a cause of death.
Brown said he'll also be notifying law enforcement agencies in Arkansas and Oklahoma of the discovery.
