STILLWATER — The husband of a woman who died after falling down a flight of stairs at Boone Pickens Stadium is suing Oklahoma State University for negligence.
Ronald Mayfield, of Tulsa, is seeking $75,000 in damages in the suit, which was filed Tuesday in Payne County District Court.
Mayfield's wife, Charlotte Mayfield, died Dec. 9 after falling in the stands at the Class 3A state championship football game at the stadium. Charlotte Mayfield's grandson, Hunter Hart, played defensive lineman and fullback for Cascia Hall Preparatory School.
During the first quarter of Cascia Hall's loss to Anadarko, Charlotte Mayfield fell backward down a flight of stadium steps and hit her head. She suffered severe head trauma, and was taken by ambulance to Stillwater Medical Center.
