Vampires, beasts, and zombies, too? Oh my! We're in for a wild weekend on TV.

Blood and the Beast

It's a big night for the CW on Thursday.

First, "The Vampire Diaries" returns for its fourth season with Elena (Nina Dobrev) awakening the morning after the accident to find she died with vampire blood in her system and must become a vampire or face certain death. That's at 7 p.m.

Then, at 8 p.m., "Beauty and the Beast" debuts with star Kristin Kreuk playing a homicide cop haunted by her tragic past. Both shows air on CW, channel 19, cable 12.

Grampires galore

Christopher Lloyd sinks his teeth into his starring role in the two-part season premiere episode of "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour," that follows Mike and his sister Cristen as they pay a surprise visit to their grandfather (Lloyd, "Back to the Future") in his creepy new retirement community. Once there, they discover that something is not quite right with Grandpa and his nocturnal neighbors. The half-hour anthology series airs at 5 p.m. Saturday on the Hub, cable 100.

Haunted house

Things go bump in the night in the luxury apartment building known as Bedlam Heights on BBC America.

Haunted by visions of resident Cass (Kathryn Prescott) drowning, medium Ellie warns her off the pool, but an argument with her boyfriend drives Cass back with dire consequences, and a man with a "B" branded on the back of his head is watching everything. "Bedlam" airs at 8 p.m. Saturday on BBC America, cable 176.

Dead people walking

The much-awaited season three premiere of the hit AMC series "The Walking Dead" debuts at 8 p.m. Sunday on cable 48.

Things aren't getting better for the group who survived the zombie apocalypse. The world is only getting more dangerous, and Lori's pregnancy is advancing. But things may be looking up when police officer Rick discovers a possible safe haven. But first he must push his group to its limit to try and secure the premises.

Following that will be the season premieres of AMC's unscripted series "Talking Dead," hosted by Chris Hardwick ("Nerdist"), at 10 p.m. and "Comic Book Men" at 10:30 p.m. It's all part of the network's "Fearfest," continuing through Oct. 31.

Stave off zombies, give blood

The American Red Cross is partnering with AMC leading up to the third season premiere of the TV series "The Walking Dead" to raise awareness about the ongoing need for blood donations - in the event of a natural disaster or a zombie invasion. As a thank you, AMC will award one lucky participant a behind-the-scenes trip to the set of "The Walking Dead" in Atlanta, Ga. For more information about donating blood or how to enter to win the trip, go to tulsaworld.com/zombieblooddrive. The drive continues through Oct. 22.
