OFFENSE

B: Ja'Terian Douglas popped his longest run of the season - an 81-yard touchdown dash that gave the Hurricane a 19-3, third-quarter lead. Douglas and Alex Singleton were the stars of a Tulsa ground game that netted 281 yards and averaged 5.2 per attempt. The Hurricane finished with 479 total yards. QB Cody Green was 13-of-22 passing for 198 yards. At the end of a 41-yard, first-quarter pass play, Hurricane receiver Thomas Roberson lost a fumble at the UTEP 14-yard line. During the second period, as Tulsa drove 76 yards to the 7-yard line, the possession stalled when Green misfired on two passes.

DEFENSE

B-: In two consecutive games, Tulsa has scored a defensive touchdown. On Thursday, linebacker Shawn Jackson scored on a 17-yard fumble return. The Golden Hurricane secondary was roasted on big pass plays by the UAB and Marshall offenses, and on Thursday UTEP lefty backup quarterback Carson Meger connected on a 50-yard pass on his second attempt. In the fourth quarter, with TU guilty of an obvious bust in the secondary, Meger found Jordan Leslie for a 61-yard touchdown. When Leslie made the catch, there wasn't a TU defender within 15 yards of him. UTEP finished with 376 passing yards. Tulsa's run defense was excellent as UTEP finished with only 33 yards (0.9 per attempt). After being flagged for pass interference, TU cornerback Lowell Rose responded with an important end-zone interception, ending an 82-yard, third-quarter drive by the Miners.

SPECIAL TEAMS

C: Kickoff specialist Cole Way had an impressive tackle on the opening kickoff. Freshman Daniel Schwarz connected on field goals of 31 and 25 yards. He missed on a try from 36 yards, but the Miners were flagged for a penalty. Five plays later, he was good from 25. After Tulsa was penalized for a personal foul, Schwarz was forced to try a 33-yard extra-point. He hooked it to the left. Way punted four times for a 39.5-yard average. Redshirt freshman Conner Floyd had a 15-yard punt return for TU.
