Letter to the Editor: Smarter now

Boy, was I stupid. I though the tea party movement was a reflection of our Boston forefathers, who push for a government of the people, by the people, no taxation without representation as well as other American ideals. Evidence shows the contrary.

They are more like Alice's tea party. They sit around and bobble-headedly drink tea from empty cups, they say things out of both sides of their head and you either do not understand what they say, or cannot trust it. They make much ado, but produce little or nothing.

Do they represent those who elected them? No, first politicians listen to the party line, then the big money that got them elected. If there is room for what the people want, so be it.

Do they accomplish anything? In Washington, they first debated, then passed the same legislation more than 30 times. When they sent it to the Senate, they watched it die, again. At the same time, many important issues just sat there.

They must have been poor students in subjects like the Constitution, arithmetic and science. Many of the laws they want are ruled unconstitutional. They talk about only tax cuts with no idea about how they are going to pay for what they want to spend. As for science, forget it - many of them do not have a clue. Maybe this is why they do not adequately fund programs like education, et al.

I am smarter now.
