LAWTON — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has released the name of a man killed by a police car as the man reportedly led officers on a chase.

The OSBI said Monday that 32-year-old Michael Davis was dead at the scene about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The agency is releasing few details — saying only that Davis was hit by the patrol car and that agents are still investigating.

Authorities said the chase began when the man fled a motel after a Lawton officer arrived to investigate reports of an assault. Police said the officer ended the chase after losing sight of the vehicle — but a second officer spotted the suspect and renewed the pursuit until hitting Davis.

The OSBI said Lawton police asked the agency to investigate.
