It appears the first revival of Knotty Pine Barbecue will happen in Broken Arrow.

"We plan to be open by Oct. 20 or Oct. 22," said Jim Rice.

The restaurant will be located at 1424 W. Kenosha St. -- on 71st Street between 145th East Avenue and 161st East Avenue -- in space that most recently held Fish Tale Grill.

Rice and wife Regan will operate the business under a franchise agreement with the Woodard family, which founded the restaurant in the mid 1950s at 3301 W. Fifth St. That building was destroyed by fire in August 2010.

"I've known the Woodard family for many, many years," Jim Rice said. "They have been totally involved in making sure everything is right when we open here."

Rice said Knotty Pine will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. It will accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

It was announced earlier this year that a Knotty Pine would be opening with a different franchisee at 61st Street and 33rd West Avenue. That deal is in litigation.
