Letter to the Editor: Not a new tax

In speaking with colleagues and
friends there appears to be a lot of misunderstanding
about whether Vision2
is or is not a new tax. Vision2 is not a
new tax. It is an extension of the current
Vision 2025 tax that costs the average
homeowner about $7.40 per month.
It may be unfortunate that we are
in a situation to have to decide now to
extend the Vision 2025 0.6 percent of a
penny tax, but I believe it is completely
worth the investment to improve the
facilities we own and to try our best to
keep 11,000 of our friends and neighbors
in our community.
A loss of that many jobs would create
deep and lasting change that would affect
our community for years and years.
I’m not a fan of taxes, but I appreciate
the fact that without increasing my
taxes we have the opportunity to keep
valuable jobs in Tulsa County and keep
our community moving forward.
