A motorcyclist was killed in a collision that shut down traffic on an already congested Tulsa thoroughfare during rush hour Thursday evening.
The accident happened in the 2800 block of Southwest Boulevard just after 5 p.m. when the driver of a Ford Fusion attempted to turn left out of the Goodwill Industries parking lot and collided with a motorcycle, Tulsa Police Cpl. Mike Fitzgerald said.
The motorcyclist, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, Fitzgerald said.
The driver of the car was not injured, he said.
Traffic in the area is expected to be shut down for at least another hour, Fitzgerald said.
Southwest Boulevard provides a major route from the downtown area to west Tulsa and has been especially congested since bridge construction on Interstate 244 has been on-going.
