The Picker: Why didn't the OU dropouts win a big one?

NORMAN — Oklahoma's football team is bucking a trend of improving graduation success rates in the sport.

The No. 8 Sooners were tied with Central Michigan for the worst graduation rate among schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision throughout the latest data set provided by the NCAA on Thursday, counting players who started school between 2002 and 2005.

Oklahoma graduated only 47 percent of its players during that timeframe, compared with a record-high 70 percent rate across the FBS for the interval studied.

Oklahoma was the only current Top 25 team graduating less than half of its players, and has been below 50 percent for every report involving solely players from coach Bob Stoops' tenure dating back to 1999.
