HS football roundup: Blocked kicks send Dutch to playoffs

Episcopal School of Dallas scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, but Holland Hall blocked an extra-point kick and a field goal in the final seconds to clinch a Southwest Preparatory Conference playoff berth and knock the Eagles out of playoff contention with a 41-40 win Friday night at Hardesty Field.
With 20 seconds left in the game, ESD kicker Taylor Curtis-Wheeler attempted a 41-yard field goal, facing the wind, but junior defensive back John Byers came from the right side to block the field goal and to seal the win for the Dutch (4-5 overall and 4-3 in the Southwest Preparatory Conference).
Jon Werthen rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback Jake Fox threw three touchdowns.
Holland Hall's final touchdown came with eight minutes left in the game when linebacker Bridge Craven returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown.
Craven's interception was one of four second-half interceptions for the Dutch.
Teel carries Sperry
Summary: Blake Teel scored four touchdowns as Sperry posted its first District 3A-5 win of the season, 34-21 over Blackwell.
Notable: Teel caught first-half touchdown passes of 38 and 31 yards from Casey Holcomb. He broke a 14-all tie in the third quarter with scoring runs of 1 and 12 yards for the Pirates.

Victory Christian runs past Prague
Summary: Cole Taylor ran for three touchdowns and caught another as Class 3A No. 6 Victory Christian remained undefeated after posting a 41-14 home nondistrict win over Prague.
Notable: Taylor scored on runs of 1, 10, and 13 yards and caught a 15-yard scoring pass from Keats Calhoon. ... Josh Redmond had TD runs of 6 and 17 yards for the victorious Conquerors. ... Victory can clinch the District 3A-6 title with a win at Morris next Friday.

Lincoln Christian nears playoff berth
Summary: Justin Flewellen had four touchdown runs as Lincoln Christian rolled Locust Grove 55-21 to close in on a 3A playoff berth.
Notable: Flewellen ran for 191 yards on 19 carries. ... Anthony Wilkerson had a 38-yard touchdown run and caught an 18-yard scoring pass from Austin Grauer, who threw for 205 yards.

McAlester stampedes Skiatook
Summary: University of Tulsa commitment Devin Rolan and teammate Seth Grant each had a pair of touchdown runs as McAlester clinched a 5A playoff berth with a 42-18 win at Skiatook.
Notable: Rolan scored on runs of 5 and 74 yards ... Grant had a pair of 4-yard TD runs. ... The Buffaloes can clinch a first-round home playoff game with a home win over Memorial next Friday. ... Skiatook quarterback Alex Terry threw touchdowns to Baylor Jenkins and Zach McAnally.
